I was hoping to have found another minimalist style running shoe (not barefoot). These have almost zero forefoot cushioning. I have had other shoes with burrito style tongue but these shoes I question how well would stay in place. The lacing system is pretty awful. Could definitely see pressure points while running any distance. I don't need structure, but these are pretty flimsy and question the lateral strength and comfort running up and down steeper inclines/declines. For reference in gauging whether my thoughts may apply to you; I run 5k's to full marathons and have put on 2250km so far in 2018...
I've been using these shoes for a few months now and they are reasonably comfortable to walk around in. But that's it, if u start running with them, they are not good at all. Running up and hills quite frequently i noticed that there is very little support at the front end of the shoe and i find myself having to descend the hills backwards, since the heels do have support. I tried to fix this problem by tying the shies tighter but then because of the way the lacing system works, half way through my run, the sides will start to cut into my foot and hurt. These shoes look great and seem like they'd be good at the gym since they are stable, but if u run anywhere that's on an incline, i would suggest looking at other shoes.
Just to add to my previous review. I have worn these shoes for about a week, albeit indoors, but I have done a fair bit of running on treadmills. The shoes are no where near as comfortable as their predecessor, and almost feel stiff. I was expecting (like its predecessor) a snug sock like fit. The shoes run large, I'm usually an 8.5US in underarmour and I have these shoes in 8US. They're still a little big, perhaps a 7.5US would be better, although they don't seem to make 7.5US shoes!
What's definitely a problem with this shoe is the cosmetics. If you look at the photos attached, you can see average paint jobs, and there's a lot of glue around the plastic heelcap showing. It's like there was no quality control here! Just FYI the stress in the foam is because I have used the shoes for a week; when it came the foam was brand new looking.
All in all, I would not recommend this shoe. They run at least half a size bigger, if not a whole size bigger than the rest of the underarmour line. They are far less comfortable than their predecessor (which by the way, are a fabulous shoe). Oh yeah and there are only two lines of shoe lace holes to adjust the feel of the shoe, where as the original slingshot had three! Lastly, there doesn't seem to be much quality control on the shoe. I have two pairs as I was trying out two sizes, and they both suffer from these aforementioned cosmetic issues.
Bought these 10 weeks ago, outer eyelet has broken. Sole worn down around heal after 200k. Fine for short quick runs, not forgiving when closer to 10-15km runs
Have not owned these long but these run much larger than the original slingshot. I am an 8.5US in the original slingshot. In these I decided to get an 8US as another reviewer said the slingshot 2 runs large. Sadly, it is still a bit big. I would suggest to get a half size down or even a size down from whatever you usually wear with underarmour (I am an 8.5US in other underarmour shoes).
As for performance, I have not used these much so I can't say. But compared to the original slingshot, these feel more clunky and less like a sock. However, it may be because I haven't broken these in yet!
Also, at first glance these look quite nice. But on further inspection, it seems the build quality isn't great. I can clearly see glue where the plastic heel thing has been glued on. And the connection between the upper and sole doesn't look seemless. These issues weren't apparent on the original slingshot!
I needed to go a half size down on these. I usually wear size 9 in all the other UA shoes, apollo, etc. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought these shoes simply for the look. I thought they looked very cool. Little did I know they were going to be very comfortable! I use them almost every day and they look great! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
This are great shoes for day to day walking. The knit fabric stretches well when feet swell, keeping you comfortable. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Comfortable and good performance. Once minor annoyance the laces fall out of the little holes occasionally. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Overall, these are great shoes. The lacing system and burrito tongue lock around the contours of your feet snugly, without creating uneven or uncomfortable pressure points. The sole of the shoes are not quite as durable as I had hoped (hence 4 stars instead of 5 and less than “max” performance rating), but they perform well, look great, and feel fantastic.
